4Charities Group

4Charities continues to flourish as a group with an enthusiastic, hard working committee.  Sadly we lost Zoe Wilmoth and Lynn Gordon as very supportive members and Liz Turgoose stepped down as Chairman due her work load as Church Warden.  We were very fortunate to have Liz for so long as a very effective and hardworking chairman. Thank you all.  Judy Edwards agreed to take over as temporary Chairman.

We were able to distribute £550 to each of the charities we support from 2018 funds.  Papua New Guinea Church Partnership, Amani Village, Tanzanear and Sightsavers.

Our Winter lunch in January was a friendly well attended event.  Soup and Scrabble continued through the year as a very effective monthly fund-raising event, growing in numbers.  Thank you, Sue Lee.  Sadly our planned walk along the Tillingham Valley had to be postponed until 2020.

December was busy, with a Christmas hamper raffle organised by Sue Rowan and a very well attended Christmas Food cookery demonstration given by Gill Potterton.  Thank you both.

Towards the end of the year the committee agreed to support the Hamlyn Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia on Rose Crouch’s suggestion.

We ended the year with a bank balance of just under £2,000 which will be distributed in 2020.
